Has our prayer for PS2 finally been answered? Signs are pointing to yes. But is it being rushed? Is it the old-school PS that we love, or is it a spin off on recent design flops?

If this is real, Liberty must step up and ensure that PS 2 goes in the right direction as best we can.

Unfortunately SOE hasn't changed at all. Apart from leaking credit card information, Smed blatantly lied to the Planetside fans about PS Next.

Probably jsut to get a bunch of people to resub for more money to pay for PS:N. I would have done it if they asked, sorta shitty to lie to us though.

But that's SOE. Shit On Everything.

The only thing I heard was sony getting hacked due to their own negligence and not using firewalls and having information from 100 million users stolen.

One good thing came of that. 45 days of free play time to any/all Station games you've ever subbed to for PC users.

Luckily for anyone in North America, only information that pretty much anyone could get on anyone (thank you interweb) easily anyway, minus passwords to accounts that they make you change anyway, was stolen....possibly. SoE is good at failing big, that's for sure. But it seems like the people that hacked them did it just to do it, not to actually use the mostly worthless info they hacked into.

I thought they got credit card numbers, expiration dates, and CCV numbers? Or am I mistaken?

If you've ever entered your CC and basic info into an e-commerce site of any kind, it's probably already compromised anyway.

The best we can do is pressure our financial institutions to move to smart cards/tokens etc. Although the main problem is merchant participation.. but meh.

On the other hand, I don't have a game right now and I'm taking a cert exam on Tuesday. After that, a free month or so of PS might be just what the doctor ordered.

From what I've read, I think it's all back up.

Couple of things there. The servers are back up, yes. But, the servers with the CC numbers that were broken into in North America at least were all old ones that were between 3 and 4 years old, possibly older. So, most of it was info that didn't meen shit to anyone anyhow.
